Dear Melinda,

I am so sorry to hear about your uncle who is diagnosed with Stage 1 Prostate Cancer.

To begin with, generally, your uncle stands a good chance of disease prognosis.

Some people may not have any symptoms or other health problems depending on the cancer cells.Nevertheless, his follow up tests and proposed treatments are important.

What you can do is to give some psychological support by emitting positive thoughts especially if he is emotionally troubled by his diagnosis or treatment plan. Do as you can to support him and as when needed e.g be a good listener, help him with his follow up appointments and be a friend when he wants to have someone to talk to. You may also extend your support to his immediate family members or carers.

Last but not least, it is good to suggest to him that he can be involved with the NCSM Prostate Cancer Support Group. Contact number 03-26987351 for further details.

Hopefully, the information provided helps.
