Dear Nurse,
My father's side has a strong family history of prostate cancer. What can I do to lower my risk for the cancer?

Hi Stephen,
Glad to know you are proactive in planning to lower the risk of cancer.
Early detection tests cannot tell for sure if you have cancer. If the result of one test is abnormal, you will most probably need a prostate biopsy to determine if you have prostate cancer.

To lower the risks of cancer :
1. To take blood yearly for Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA )
2. Be physically active
3. Maintain a desirable healthy weight
4. Enjoy a variety of fruits and vegetables daily

All the best Stephen.
Wishing you good health as always.
