Dear Nurse,

Good day, my 11 year daughter is a 2 month post bone marrow transplanted patient. Are her friends allowed to visit her.? Is she safe to play with her pet cat?

Thank you,

Hi Yong,

Happy to know that your daughter is recovering well, post bone marrow transplant.

Are her friends allowed to visit her ? The key for parents is to manage this new stress by remaining calm and confident.
Maintaining a sense of balance and comfort will come with time.

Yes, her friends are allowed to visit her..1. A friend or two for short periods e.g.
    1. 2 hours will make her feel good, normal and happy.
    2. Wash hands before visits.
    3. Make sure they are free from coughs or colds.
    4. Your daughter should preferably wear a mask.

Can she play with her pets?
    1. Household pets may remain in the house.
    2. Do not hug, kiss or come in close contact.

Hope this is of some help to you Yong.

All the best and wishing your daughter a speedy recovery.

Mary,
